Unit 9

In this unit, we going to be to be creating a performance about Christmas. When I heard that I thought making the performance different.  Christmas plays show the positive and happy side of Christmas . However I want to change that and show the negative side to Christmas. I was inspired by Slowthai Slow Down. He talks about the bad side of Christmas for example their being no heating on Christmas day. He wants people to understand that Santa is not a good person. He talks about he's experience in Christmas.

I suggest to the class, what about if their no Christmas and these 5 kids go back in time to discover what Christmas and if they could bring it back. However at the end the realise that it's an experiment and they have to repeat the same story.  This happens to the kids because each kid did something bad on Christmas day for example One kid has a rough life. His family is in poverty which has made him who he is today, which is bad person. we got into groups and came up with that ideas and we performed it to the class. we received mixed review. The class like that the are five kids go though time, trying to get Christmas back because the evil one has banned Christmas because his parents died on Christmas by the Christmas lights and the evil one blames Christmas for it.


As we were developing the play, we wanted the children to go through time whereby Christmas events happened. I found this website https://www.history.com/news/7-historical-events-that-took-place-on-christmas. whereby i found out the historical moments that happened on Christmas. One historical moment that has happened is in 1914 on December the 24th there was truce between England and France,Germany. Whereby the shared food and drinks and had a game of foot ball. Whilst reading this i felt that this was interesting because these countries were fight each other however the power of Christmas change it all. Christmas brought these guys together which i wanted to show in the play. When the evil is watching he could realise that people fight a lot however they come together and work together.

Set
At the start of the play, we want to soldiers to be scattered around the the theatre. holding guns. whilst the bring the audience member bring you into the theatre. when the all the audience has sat down in their seats we going to have siren noise which is our Que to start the performances.

The production have used their own time to create us a book which i thank them for doing that.

in the picture we was rehearsing the scene whereby they kids call the other kids to meet up at the park because they the parents have been taken away from the government because the parents haven been caught given or buying Christmas present to their kids. We wanted all the kids to on stage however in different location we have shown this by the kids calling the other kids and the 5 kids and the dog are around the theatre space and we going to have spotlight on them. we wanted to do this to introduce the other kids and their reaction.


The video are on google class room. In the video we are rehearsing the market scene whereby all the kids meet up to discus the plan and what they are going to do bring back the parents. Everyone that part of cast is in the scene. We wanted to make it realistic market. We have one person fruits and the others selling phones etc. Whilst watching the performance i felt that we could worked on the energy. It was really low. you could understand what's going on but it felt boring and dead. 

This is the scene whereby all the kids meet up and discus the plan. Harry character shows a map that his found and showing the other kids. As audience member we get to see how each character personality and their relationship with each other. The kids relationship with each other are that they all love each other however it's a love and hate relationship. which is good because it show the teenager/teen adult relationship with each other. Whilst the class was creating the script we wanted the character to be over the top however have some elements of reality. so that the audience member would laugh at these character however relate with these character.

In this scene, is where the kids break into the evil one place and they found a book which time travel to other times periods in the world. (Christmas events). I like this scene because it over the top. Tim the dog is doing karate will, what dog does karate will which makes it funny. Whilst watching the scene, We suggest that the kids should walk in and each kids says be quite and the last kids says sshh! however they no one their i found that really funny. I felt that the kids could of listen and reacted to each other because it felt that everyone was reading the script.

In this scene is after the breaking whereby the police found out that the someone has broken in however they don't know it's the kids. We get introduce to police. They relationship is very funny. It feel like your watching peep show. Peep show is where it show 2 opposite character who are friends that live in flat together and it tells they life. Mark is the smart one, who overthinks everything and Jeremy is the guy who doesn't care. I love this scene, I feel that they could work on listen and reacting to each other and being confident because at some part i could hear them. We added someone at the back holding a police sign because it felt phantom. The target audience is for children because it's over the top and dramatic and also is PG friendly and it's Christmas. At first I wanted to do play where it show the bad side of Christmas however Christmas is very positive and happy. So we made the play child friendly and the adults can enjoy, However we performed it to the college students, parents and teachers. 

Evaluation
During rehearsals,  i felt that we could of shown more energy whilst performing. whilst watching it didn't make sense because we are still developing the script.Also i felt that we need to work on attendance and punctuality because some the cast weren't in for rehearsals and some of the character were important character which affected the whole class because if we wanted to change something in that scene and the actor is not their for rehearsal it would have to explain it again to them when they come to next rehearsals. I loved that our group could work through our difference and when it's rehearsals we are focusing on the work.

During the performance i felt that i have showed confidence and stage presence I wanted the audience to know that I'm here and they could understand what i was saying. Also I felt that i have worked on developing on my characterisation. I had to create a character profile for both of my character. which had to research on both of my character Jeff and the Henchman 1 and 2. (It on the top of the blog). I felt that I we have worked on listening and reacting to each other. I felt like when we were doing the last performance I  feel that my energy was low. So I need to have high energy whislt perfroming in all the performances. I feel like i need to work my articulation and pronoucnastion of some words
