UCAS Statement
I'm here to tell you why you should pick me to join your university or drama school !  In 2009, I was 9 years old and I remember watching an episode of Doctor Who.  It was the last episode of the series and in that episode, everyone came together to fight the Dalek and Cybermen. After watching that episode I knew that I wanted to be an actor, I felt it in my bones.  Yup it was down to David Tennet .I want to inspire and entertain people the way Doctor, well David,  inspired me. After watching that episode I would make mini performances to show to my family because I didn't have a T.V with a lot of channels so all of us would get bored.  This would often, as you can imagine , annoy my parents but I loved pretending to be one of the characters.  Obviously  I didn't know anything about acting and I wanted to learn. At school, the only lesson I loved was drama , I felt at home in the classes and I was hooked . There were wider School shows that I would audition for,  although wouldn't get the role , this however, made me more determined to succeed. I also  focused on athletics. I did athletics for 2 years, I was doing field events such as Discus, Shot Put and Hammer. Also  I did some music on the side because I want to be a musician and producer. However when I left secondary school everything changes. My friend Oskar Bergman Granger is a really good director and he had this school project that he had to film in the summer holidays and he asked me if I wanted to be  the main actor. I loved the experience and was taken back to being Dr Who again ! I learnt so much about acting as well as the wider process of camera angles and walking to a mark etc . After that, I applied to Westminster Kingsway College and took a Level 2 Course in Performing and Production Arts . I completed this course with a Merit and am currently on the L3 course .   During college, I would find auditions and theatre companies to join. I worked on a few short films and theatre performances. For example, I worked on this short film called the Hilbert grand hotel whereby I played a lobby boy. It was really fun because I got to play someone different from the character that I should suppose to play. It was out of my comfort zone which is an area I  love about acting. At College, I've learnt so much and I feel I've really grown in developing my skills and approaches to a role. We`ve covered so many different plays and roles , including : Love and information by Caryl Chruchill. Love and Information is an episodic which means that there are no characters, no stage direction. Which means that the actors have to come up with what to do with the scene. Love and information is one of my favourite plays because it makes me  creative and imaginative. Also, I have worked on Macbeth by William Shakespeare, I played King Duncan. I had a hard time developing his character. I had to make it my own. However I want to learn more acting techniques and methods when I get to drama school. I have also worked on the seagull whereby i played Treplev. I had fun playing this character because it was different to me. I had to open myself up. character that i have played because in the play Treplev is a broken, emotional and unwanted male. On top of this , I've joined the Youth group of Camden People's Theatre , this is also helping me with my skills and understanding.Acting has pushed me to be  someone else. I love  learning  about acting as well as  meeting new people and working with them. Drama has boosted my confidence and has given me a voice to help other people. It has helped me in so many ways. If it wasn't for drama I would be on the street doing bad things. The drama has saved my life. I want people who doing drama or not doing drama to work hard on their dreams. Anyone can achieve anything. I look forward to continuing my education at your institution.

Monologues

Pro and cons of getting into drama school

After college, I want to go into drama school because i feel that i can learn more about the industry.
When I was writing and research  the essay i want to get another actor viewpoint about the Drama
school. I spoke to Obi Ugoala he said to me that drama school is the best way for actors to get into
the industry because it’s good pathway for actor because it teaches you a lot about the industry for
example audition process and you will get connection through the drama school.
Drama schools is better than go university as your learning more and perfecting your craft because
going to university your doing a lot of written. You raley doing any practical work. Performing arts is
more practical, I believe that if your doing acting your doing a lot of  performances. You should be
working on voices, movement and skills which your would learn more in drama schools.

Drama schools helps actor to get connection through the  industry because you meeting experience
actor who are known casting director, director, agent who are looking for actors  to represent the
actors. Drama school go more in depth with acting for example voice work, movement, dancing and
singing  which is really good because when you are going to auditions you have experience of those
skills that you have learned in drama school into the role. Your more likely to get role if you have
experiences because the production would get budget of making the movie and it would cost a lot
if you need to be trained  if they are looking for an actor with skills. Also you in drama schools you
learn about different methods or skills in acting for example chekov  or method acting.
This is billarant because you get a different taste instead of learning one method. You can see which
one works for you.

Also, Drama schools helps you get connection through the industry for example agency, casting director, directors.
When i was research drama  school it said that they are going to do an end of year performance whereby
agent can come to watch our performance. In this industry it the people you know to help you get into
the industry. Agents are meant to help you get roles and auditions. It good to have connection through
the industry as your more likely to acting work though people

Another good thing about drama schools is that you get to meet new people, especially actors. This is
really good because the actors that are in you class are in the same boat as you. They are nervous and
scared. They are probably have the same feeling as you. So you could relate with them. Also when
your performing you can give feedback to the actor and they can give feedback from the actor which is
really good because it is good to get advice on what to do from other actors. Also when your giving
feedback from other actors you can use your feedback on your performances.

However, Drama school and University are expensive. For example to get into Rada you would have
to pay £40 for an audition and if you get in it about 9,000 a year plus the uniform and the books and
travel. Also if your going to study outside of London you would have to pay for student accommodation.
All that money that you would have to pay after the drama school, you more likely to debt. When I was
researching this Student are at high risk to be debt because of University that why a lot of students that
leave college going into full time jobs or go into acting work. Which is good however you would have to
have an agent to get you acting jobs. However you get a student loan when you apply for drama school
or university however you pay the money you owe when you make money more than 12k. So you would
either work whilst going to drama school or University which would stressful because your working
whilst in education. A problem could be that your behind work or your would miss out some important
things because your working trying to pay the money owed.

Another problem about drama schools is that not everyone gets into drama school. Their a lot of actors
that want to go into drama school which means that audition process is tough because the person that
is  audition has chosen from a lot of actors to get to drama schools.  They are looking for people who a
determinate, open to new ideas and they see it when your performing your monologue.  So when your
performing your monologue it has to be better than everyone, you make yourself different from others.
However your more likely to get into university and than drama school.

But drama schools is the best way for actors to go into the industry  because it helps you develop your
craft and get more connection into the industry.
